Adult Formation

How do I respond to what God has done for me through Jesus? The rescue mission of Jesus is two-fold: it is for us personally, and it’s something that is supposed to continue through us. Hence, our faith formation offerings aim to help us grow in intimacy with Christ (inward focus) AND equip us to be His witnesses in our sphere of influence (outward focus).

Paul’s letter to the Romans has been at the center of reflection, conversion, and controversy from the time it was written. Presented by Andrew Swafford and Jeff Cavins, Romans: The Gospel of Salvation provides an authentically Catholic, comprehensive, and simple way to understand the overarching theme of Romans—salvation. This fascinating study reveals that salvation is not merely the removal of a guilty verdict; it is about entering into Christ’s life, death, and resurrection and sharing in his divine life.

In Jesus Christ, all the hopes and expectations of Israel are fulfilled, leading to the universal (“catholic”) family of God. Romans: The Gospel of Salvation will help you to make sense of the difficult passages regarding faith, works of the law, and justification. Above all, it will help you to enter into a more meaningful relationship with Christ. This is an 8-part Bible Study.

Ponder is a Bible study that explores the Sunday readings in the Roman Catholic Lectionary cycle. It is a contemplative study, which means the goal of Ponder is to unite the heart and mind.

Ponder is designed to help individuals and groups pray with the readings first, to absorb and ground the Sunday readings in the heart or personal experience. Participants learn the process of lectio divina and Ignatian contemplation as tools for praying with Scripture. Brief commentary is provided by the study author to help participants fully understand each passage. Each Sunday includes two reflection points for ongoing contemplation (or pondering).

DATES: SEP 15 2023 - LENT/EASTER 2024 (Friday mornings, 9:00 AM)

LOCATION: Since COVID, this study uses an online format. A video meeting link will be provided to registered attendees.

REGISTRATION: Click here or on the image above. Registration is required.

RESOURCES: Participants will purchase their own book directly from Little Rock Scripture Study for $24.95. The YEAR A text is used now, and YEAR B will be used later when the liturgical cycle changes at the beginning of Advent (DEC 3, 2023).

Heartbreaking is the story out of Maui where residents fleeing the recent wildfires drove right past a woman lying on the ground in need of help. Perhaps equally heartbreaking — at least to Jesus — are those we pass right by, those who we know are trapped in the emptiness that is life apart from Him.

This is why God sent us his Son. Jesus rescued us from certain death at the hands of the enemy, restored our access to the Kingdom of Heaven, and has commissioned us as disciples to rescue others. RESCUED PEOPLE RESCUE PEOPLE! We invite you to come get equipped for the rescue mission.

The Rescue Project is a global movement that launched in 2022. It flows from the conviction that the most urgent task in the Church is a compelling and attractive proclamation of the gospel. Its aim is threefold: that people might be 1) overwhelmed by the good news of what God has done for us, 2) moved to surrender their lives to Jesus in faith, and 3) mobilized for mission.

The Rescue Project as an eight-week book + video experience of the gospel run in small group format within parishioner homes. Complete the registration form to express interest in attending a home-based study.
