In addition to the pilgrimage to Mexico, Father Chris will be hosting a series of talks THIS FALL on Our Lady of Guadalupe! These talks are for everyone of all ages, whether or not you are registered for the pilgrimage.
 

The Story and the Tilma of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Come hear the story of the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe to Juan Diego which will include excerpts from the conversations Mary had with Juan Diego. We will also discuss the skepticism of the local bishop, Juan Diego's attempt to avoid Mary, and the miraculous appearance of the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Juan Diego's tilma. Finally, we will explore some of the unexplainable phenomena surrounding the tilma and image - it's a miracle that it exists today!

The Imagery & Meaning of the Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe

The image of our Lady of Guadalupe is bursting with imagery and meaning; some of it still being discovered today almost 500 years after the image appeared! In this talk, we will do a deep dive into just some of the imagery and meaning, and seek to understand it from the cultural perspective of the 16th century indigenous people of the region.



Cristero War/Martyrs and Our Lady of Guadalupe

The apparition and image of Our Lady of Guadalupe had a seismic impact that endures to this day. One of the places where this impact can clearly be seen in more recent history is during the Cristero War of the early 1900's. In this talk, we will hear the stories of some of the saint martyrs of this war - their trust in Our Lady of Guadalupe, their dedication to the name of Christ the King (Viva Cristo Rey!), and their bravery in facing death.
