YEAR OF THE EUCHARIST

SH Exposition Image.jpg

Renewed devotion and reverence.

If “The Great Story” reveals God’s epic rescue mission, the Holy Eucharist is where we encounter its Divine Author truly and personally: Jesus Christ, who makes his saving sacrifice present among us.

Beginning on the First Sunday of Advent, November 29, 2026, and continuing through the new liturgical year, St. John Paul II Parish will celebrate a Year of the Eucharist.

Our hope is to grow in deeper faith, reverence, and love for the Holy Eucharist—especially the Sacrifice of the Mass and the Real Presence of Jesus Christ. In the Eucharist, Christ gives us his Body and Blood and makes present the one sacrifice of the Cross.

As we prepare for this year, we are looking for suggestions! What would you like to see more of in this Year of the Eucharist that will help YOU grow closer to God? Please take some time to fill out the suggestion and question form below.

Throughout the year, we will explore the mystery of the Mass through:

  • a 2- or 3-part “Walk Through the Mass” demonstration;

  • forming an “Exposition Team” to offer extended hours for adoring our Lord;

  • a homily preaching series on the Bread of Life (John 6);

  • forty hours of Exposition spread across all three churches to coincide with JPII’s feast day.

Beginning This Advent

Beginning on the First Sunday of Advent, November 29, 2026, and continuing through the new liturgical year, St. John Paul II Parish will celebrate a Year of the Eucharist.

Live the Year of the Eucharist

Every parishioner and family is invited to choose personal spiritual practices for this year:

  • Faithful participation in the Mass: Commit to Sunday Mass, participate attentively and prayerfully, and consider attending daily Mass when possible.

  • Reconciliation and worthy Communion: Make regular use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and prepare to receive Holy Communion with faith and reverence.

  • Adoration and silence: Spend intentional time with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration, and cultivate quiet prayer before Mass.

  • A Eucharistic life: Ask the Lord to make your family and daily life an offering of love, gratitude, and service to others.
