CONFIRMATION

Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation," whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed."

- Catechism of the Catholic Church 1285

Confirmation Preparation

We welcome baptized teens in grades 7-12 interested in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Through this preparation, we accompany young people who desire to deepen their relationship with Jesus, and live the life of a disciple on mission.

We have two components of Confirmation prep. We ask all teens to participate in foundational faith formation

(including parish youth group or Catholic school), as well as a few supplemental Confirmation sessions:

  • A candidate/parent intro session

  • 3 Fire Nights (evening sessions with Mass)

  • A full day retreat

  • An evening candidate/sponsor retreat

  • Rehearsal and Confirmation Mass

Candidates will select a sponsor to journey with them (a practicing Catholic 16 years or older) and a saint to inspire them to live out their faith (confirmation name).

Discipleship Components:

  • Attend either the parish youth group, a Catholic school, or home school

  • Participate in service opportunities

  • Attend Sunday and Holy Day Masses

  • Share in a faith reflection discipleship talk with a parish leader
