The St Vincent de Paul society was founded in 1833 to serve the poor with dignity, rooted in the gospel. “The Society of St Vincent de Paul recognizes the suffering of human beings and commits to help those in need.” The society exists in 181 countries with approximately 6 million active members.
Mission Statement of the Society of St Vincent de Paul of the United States
The Primary Objectives of the Conference shall be to provide its members opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship and to serve people in need. Conferences are organized primarily to perform person to person service to those in need.
“No work of charity is foreign to the society.”
The Essential Elements of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society are:
1. Spirituality-to bear witness to Christ by showing that the faith of Christians inspires them to work for the good of humanity.
2. Friendship-To bring together people of good will and to assist them by mutual example and true friendship in drawing nearer to the Lord.
3. Service-To establish a personal contact between its members and those who suffer, bringing the most effective and charitable aid possible.

St. Vincent de Paul often said , “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ.” It was his way of saying “Imitate Jesus.”
Vincent echoed the thought of St. Paul: “Your attitude must be that of Christ” (Phil 2:5).
A Vincentian attempts to put on the attitude of Jesus, who “did not come to be served but to serve.” (Mk 10:45)
In the spirit of St Vincent de Paul, let’s put our faith into action and help serve those in need. Thank you!
